TAKE THE FIRST STEP TOWARDS MENTAL WELLNESS.
What is a Mental Illness?
We all have mental health, like we all have physical health, both of which changes
throughout our lives. Like our bodies, our minds can also become unwell.
Mental health problems are far more common than perceived. One in four of us will be
affected by mental illness each year. The effects are as real as a broken arm, even
though there isn’t a sling or plaster cast to show it.
Understanding Mental Health
According to World Health Organisation (WHO), mental health is defined as “a state of well-being in which each individual realises his or her own potential, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively & fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to his or her community.”
